Despite the uncertainty in the housing market, these bluebirds are eager to set up their new household. The male captured this earthworm and held it for several minutes while the female gathered dried grass clippings for her nest.
When she took a break, he flew to her side and gave her the worm to eat. Wish I had captured that moment!

Great pictures David. Do you have a bluebird house in your garden? Maybe the contractor side of you will be inspired to put one up for them you know to help out with the housing shortage.

I once saw a flicker get his mate, first by banging on a metal roof and then when she came they sat together for a minute, then he offered her some suet, and they flew down to it. and then flew up and sat together for a minute then flew off together. wish I had had a camera attached to my eyeball.
