A Sad Day

I haven't written in a while because I've been too sad. My cat, Andy, is dying. He got in a fight a few weeks ago, and although he is strong and brave, he hasn't been able to recover from complications to his immune system. He has been gradually declining over the last week; I took him back to the vet today, and she said that he has only a few days.

We brought him home to die in familiar surroundings. Please pray that he goes quickly and without pain. I'll write more when I feel like it.

That is sad, Dave. I hope for yours, and your cat's sake that he does pass away sooner rather than later. It will be a sad loss. My thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear about your cat. It is always so hard when our pets pass. I hope this time is as mercifully short and painless as possible.

Sorry to hear that. Having recently lost a pet myself I know how difficult it can be. You are a strong person to be able to bring him home to care for him.

It's hard to watch your pet suffer. You feel so helpless. Just be there for your cat until it's time to say goodbye. I'm so sorry.

Oh, I'm so sorry. What a loving thing you're doing helping make his final days as comforting as possible.

(No fancy crypt, no $10,000 funeral--give my body to the UNC medical school and let the students cut and learn--then plant a nice tree at one of Greensboro's public gardens!)

You made this comment to one of my posts in the past. Will you plant something in memory of your cat? Enjoy your remaining time together.

I am so sorry. I will be thinking of you. It is a terrible pain to feel for a love that is so unconditional.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Even though I've never met any of you--except Sandra--it helps so much to know you are thinking about me. Andy is resting peacefully now...actually more likely he's pestering God for one more kitty treat...and I am grateful that he will never suffer again.
