First Junco

Winter is coming. The first junco arrived in my garden today as I was setting out some butterfly bushes in my newly expanded butterfly garden. I didn't get a picture of him, but if you want to see what he looks like, check out Greensboro Birds. (Just once, I want to see a bird before Iris does!)

Well, I did predict that you'd see juncos before the week is out. I should play the lottery with these psychic powers of mine!

As far as seeing birds before me, I predict you'll beat me to the warblers next spring. The Vegas oddsmakers are busy putting the numbers together as I type.

Keep your eyes peeled for the winter finches now. You should be getting some Pine Siskins and or Purple Finches soon...

I don't know, Iris. You've got a 6th sense when it comes to finding birds.

I keep looking, Lisa. I've never seen a pine siskin.

Lisa saw Purple Finches! I heard of them nearby my area, too.

Had Juncos this week and the Pine Siskins are plentiful. Everyone in my city has seen red breasted nuthaches but me. Hmmmm. I need to pay more attention!

You'll see the Pine Siskin, David. They hang out with the goldfinches.

Mary--I saw a Pine Siskin today! I think I have seen them before, I just didn't realize that's what it was.

Yay Iris! I'm watching for them here!
