What's Next, Locusts???

First it was an hour-long hailstorm. Now it's the heat. The same hellish, broiling heat, with no rain, no breeze, no clouds overhead that we had last June...and July...and August...and September...and October.

I've been on vacation so I can't give you the exact temperatures, but according to Steve's Weather Page, which is not far from my house, the high temps have ranged between 97 and 100 for the past week. At some point during the week, mine hit 102 (and that's in the shade on the north side of the house.)

This is %&#$%*&^% ridiculous. This is North Carolina. Not Death Valley. I want to move up north. I don't care if I need an interpreter, and I don't care if I can't order sweet tea in a restaurant. I just want to get away from this heat. I can learn to Garden in Zone 5. If Carolyn can go from Alabama to Chicago, then I can go from NC to Maine...or Canada. I have had enough!

Now now David. Get youself one of those tall glasses of sweet tea, sit down in the shade and relax. Aaaaahhhhh... Better now?? I hear that real estate is cheaper in Wisconsin than Maine. tee hee... I do feel a bit sorry for you. All that heat and dry weather is discouraging to say the least. I will do a rain dance for you and I am sending positive thoughts your way.

Let's change focus. Where did you go on vacation? Inquiring minds want to know. You need to post some pictures for us.

Every area has their weather frustrations. We were dry last year and flooding this year! Plus, how do you feel about snow, cold, and ice?

I think you need some sweet tea to cool you off. Sounds like heat stroke to me!

Man, at least out here we can say "It's a dry heat."

Look on the bright side, the WRAL 7 day forecast doesn't have anything past low 90's. Kinda bad when you are happy to see the temps "drop" to low 90's....

My weather widget shows a chilly high of 87 today. I'm putting on a sweater as I type this.

I grew up in Wisconsin. As a kid, most of my bday parties were canceled because it was too cold for humans to leave the house (we're talking 20+ below zero!). Growing up in that climate has made me a) a weather wuss, and b) an expert at complaining about the weather.

Buffalo would welcome you with open arms and sweet tea.

As long as you bring Teresa.

The heat sure is trying!

Glad it hasn't been too bad today here. I am visiting from Australia, where I hate the heat also!

I enjoy reading your blog, and have tagged you on mine today!

That idea of flight to the North is pretty tempting for us in Austin right now, too, David - same temps and the same no rain.

But thank heavens the restaurants will give you PLAIN iced tea down here. It seems more sensible to allow a a person to choose whether or not to add sugar rather than have it decided by someone else.

Take deep breaths and talk about vacation ;-]

David-

Count your blessings that you don't live around Wisconsin Dells or Cedar Rapids Iowa; at least you still have a garden to work in!

HA! No way you could hack it up here, funny guy... interpreter or no. ;)

Funny you should mention locusts. Because that was what was next for me. They are driving me bananas.

Y'all come on up here! Seems like everyone I know is planning to move to North Carolina, so there's plenty of room. Do you mind winters that last forever?

The sugar doesn't melt in the cold iced tea up here David, and neither does the snow , until around May.

Sorry to hear of all your weather woes. " If it ain't one thang it's another ! "

Remember that country song " it'll be a cold day in July ?" That was yesterday and today - the coolest in 45 years. I had to put on a sweater.

Your desire to move up north is gonna melt like an ice cube in that N.C. heat as soon as you feel the first cool breeze. Just keep on "aiming " 'til the feeling goes away :)
