New Blooms and a New Path

My favorite iris opened this morning...

and remember that Baptisia that I moved last year, in willful violation of all the Garden Rules???
It bloomed yesterday.

I picked up some more stepping stones and made a path through the butterfly garden. I need to be careful, though, about publicizing all these projects. Barbara at Wild Birds Unlimited is beginning to wonder how I can accomplish so much in my garden and so little at work. My wife has expressed similar amazement.

Really looks nice out back. I don't say somethign looks nice if I don't mean it, and that's welcoming and interesting and intriguing. Go to work, now.

That looks really great. I like that you made it a winding path with some interest. You and your wife should pop over our way some day. You know, you're only about 30 or so minutes down the road from me and my husband. I got to check out your link to garden centers in your area. Someone told me about a place over your way that was a good place to buy pots--something like Garden Ridge but only bigger. Do you have any idea what she might have been talking about. I need some decorative cheap pots. I'm in Clemmons.

Your iris is a beauty. No wonder you like it so well. Our early irises are blooming now too.

The path is great. You will enjoy wandering through the flowers looking at butterflies. Take some pictures too.

David -- I, too, moved a Baptisia and it fared OK. Just goes to show, the "rules" don't always apply! I just planted a B. 'Carolina Moonlight' three or four days ago and have already decided I'm going to move it. Ha, ha. I doubt it'll mind since the roots are probably still going "Hey, someone bought us a bigger house! What do you make of that?" I am thinking an Edgeworthia that I've had in a pot for two years would look perfect there. Talk about your weird decisions--hmm, Edgeworthia or Baptisia? Which would work better there?

Thanks Benjamin. I was pleased with how it turned out too.

I wish I knew about the pots, Anna. Teresa is looking for some urns for the front steps. I'll let you know if I find a good place.

Thanks Lisa. I will!

You're as bad as me, Carla, about planting something and then moving it three days later!

Such satisfaction is gained from the simple placement of steppers. Those look great as does the garden. I am sure your wife is your biggest cheerleader now.

I deleted my post because I didn't realize I was under my embroidery blog. I love your path, it's very inviting!
