Yellow!

March's color is yellow. Forsythia blooms in March announce that winter is almost over.

Yellow daffodils brighten the woodland garden.

Every spring, when the daffodils emerge, I think how fine it would be to buy thousands of daffodil bulbs and plant them everywhere, so that in March the entire yard would look like the student section at a Georgia Tech football game.

These pictures are just beautiful!
My forsythia is just starting to bud.
Thirty-one years ago I planted 25 daffodils. Every 5 years since that time I have dug and divided them . Over and over I have done this. Now every bed has daffs. Part of planning a new bed is making sure I have muscari for the border and daffodils. I am still a month from bloom time.
Your yellows bring me hope.
Happy Spring!

Our forsythias are a riot of yellow this week. And many of our neighbors around town have these incredibly dense fields of daffodils in full bloom. So gorgeous. I wonder if I can get an intern or something to plant a bunch of bulbs in my yard...

Absolutely splendid...especially since the only yellow outside today is sunlight, and the greenish yellow of the goldfinches..we've still got way too much snow...

Those yellows made my eyes pop. Wow are they ever cheerful. It would be nice to have a garden full of them.

David, our forsythias have been in bloom for a few weeks. I particularly love seeing Daffodils growing in the wild - on roadsides and in the middle of an open field. Makes me wonder how they arrived there.

Thanks Sherry! My garden is entering its 3rd year and is already benefiting from divisions.

Hey...an intern! Now that's what I need, Iris!

Snow, Jodi? No, no ,no...it's time for Spring!

I love it too, Lisa!

Go get you one, Gina! They're kinda nondescript throughout the rest of the year, but March makes up for it!

I was wondering the same thing too, Mary. I thought that might be an idea for a post if I can find out how they spread. I guess they reproduce by seeds as well as bulbs.

Beautiful, flowering sunshine!

I planted a forsythia last year. It's kind of scrawny, I hope it blooms.

Mine bloomed only sporadically their first year, Robin, but this year they are doing great.

Nice collection of yellows. We have so much yellow in our desert plants and flowers, I get tired of it, but yellow always looks good when accompanied by green in more verdant regions.

These photos are like captured sunshine, David - not too much forsythia around here so it's nice to see yours. Looks like March is treating you well so far!

Pout pout pout, and, more importantly, pout! I'm still waiting for forsythias and daffs to bloom here in SE Michigan. Of all the "worst" lists Michigan tops these days "Worst place for a crazyass gardener" does not seem to be one of those. But it should be! Thank you for the interlude of spring!
