Running Out of Water

This is...or was...Lake Townsend, which supplies Greensboro's drinking water. The city estimates that we have about 3 months of water left before we run out.
Normally, the water extends to the trees.
The car wash offers a suggestion...
This church appeals directly to the Source...What else can we do? I mean, besides prohibit country clubs from watering their golf courses, or tell people, "You get x number of gallons per month. Once you use it up, we turn off your meter until next month." But that would take leadership.

I can't believe the car wash is still open. Maybe they should pay them to close it. I bet even with recycling the water, they still use a lot of it.

I would rather have water to drink than a clean car anyway.

David,
Here's a low cost way to save a few million gallons that City leaders are simply too blind to see.

We've just gotten 4 much needed inches in the past couple days here in Kentucky. I'll stand outside after it gets light and fan the rainclouds your direction.

It looks like you're going to get some rain real soon - I hope it's a good one, and you get another one quickly after that!

I remember a water shortage in NYC when I was a little girl in the early 50s. We put into effect the suggestion that billy the blogging poet linked to, we didn't let the water run while we brushed our teeth, we took baths in 2 inches of water... Of course, the people were urged to conserve as a civic responsibility. Not so much of that going around now... Hope you get some relief soon.

Josh and I went to the dirt-track races last Saturday night. Because of this drought we've been driving around in a red-dust-covered black Kia. Good thing it rained today.

I'm experimenting with white Dutch clover seed in our barren yard. So far, so good. With very little water (just a very light mist plus this recent rain), it's sprouting like gangbusters and is super green. Now I'm looking for a place that'll deliver a truckload of compost so I can do the whole front yard. The Kia only holds maybe 8 bags of compost, and that won't cut it.

David, I heard lately that our county has 100 days of water left. Nice thought, huh?

Has there been talk of Stage Four restrictions and intense monitoring? I hope so.

We had rain showers today - a nice, steady rain, that lasted maybe a total of two hours. It's a very small dent.

I hope you get some. That photo of Lake Townsend is quite humbling.

I came to your blog in hopes of seeing a post about how the rain that blew through our area came over to you.

I'm sending rainy thoughts and prayers your way.

Carol-there was a big story in our paper about this RV show where they were washing RVs...and all perfectly legal under our feckless water ordinance.

You oughta' run for mayor Billy...is it true you're running a write-in campaign? I might vote for you!

Thanks wilblg4yrn...they're here!

Thanks lcshores. I hope we get lots more!

It's all about me, me, me it seems, Marion. Do you think we could fight WWII today, with gas and sugar rationing?

Clover is a great groundcover, Iris. See if you can talk Teresa into letting me plant our whole yard in it!

Hope you're getting rain, Mary. Stage 4??? We're in stage 2! Our city leaders are MORONS!!!

We are, Catherine. Thank you. Your rain pictures are terrific!

Thanks Lisa. We're getting it now. Did you see the new weather thingy at the bottom of my blog?
