Here's what the sky looked like over our house today. Just for fun, let's have a little contest. How much rain do you suppose fell from this menacing cloud? Put your best guess in a comment, and I'll announce the winner later this week. (No cheating--stay away from the National Weather Service page!)
Winner gets fifteen minutes of fame on Leave Me Alone I'm Digging...and maybe a cool prize if I can think of something. (Don't worry--it won't be anything out of my grandparents' house!)
Good Luck!

My guess is zero inches!
Being a veteran of promising clouds that deliver zilch, I will hazard a guess at 3 raindrops.
Ah, man, I was going to say "nothing", given my experience this year with dark clouds that drench stuff only 5+ miles away, but I guess other people are having the same experience!
I'm going to optimistically say one quarter inch. And if you have some of those daylilies from your grandparent's house, they'd make a nice prize!
I'm going to go with 1/2 inch basing that off the pitiful rainfall that we received over at Chapel Hill.
An excellent idea, Carol! Daylilies it is, and the contest ends at noon on Friday!
Here's one for optimism, 4 inches.
Thanks to everyone for participating in my little contest. The winner is...Carol, who came closest to the actual 2/10 of an inch.
Carol (who suggested the prize) will receive some beautiful daylilies from my grandparents' yard.
This was fun. We'll do it again.
